BioDisks incorporate sample collection ‘paper’ in a protected environment that provides secure transportation of samples used for DNA analysis or protein biochemical analysis. Each BioDisk is barcoded for unique sample/patient identification, tracking and once analysis has been completed the BioDisk can be closed and stored easily in an archive system.
The specialised media within the BioDisk is validated by the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute to meet the exact criteria of blood collection for newborn screening programs. This is overseen by The Centre for Disease Control (CDC). In addition, the media is CE and FDA approved for use as an IVD.
BioDisks are available in different formats, the standard formats being,
Type A: 60mm x 60mm x 3.3mm
Type B: 95mmx 60mm x 3.3mm
BioDisks are compatible with the automated sample punch systems from BSD Robotics providing higher throughput labs automation of sample handling for applications using various technology platforms.
